Movie Review - Passengers
Hello guys!
How are you doing lately?
Well, I want to talk about the latest movie that I've seen: Passengers.
WARNING: This review will contain some spoilers. Please keep that in mind and if you want to, keep on reading!
Plot:
"The starship Avalon is transporting over 5,000 colonists and crew in hibernation pods to the planet Homestead II, a journey that takes 120 years. Thirty years into its journey, the ship encounters an asteroid belt, in which it collides with a large asteroid. As a result of the collision, the ship's protective energy shield is weakened enough to allow a piece of it to pass through the shield, impacting the ship. This causes a malfunction that awakens one passenger, mechanical engineer Jim Preston (Chris Pratt), 90 years too early.
After a year of isolation, with no company except Arthur (Michael Sheen), an android bartender, Jim contemplates suicide. One day he notices beautiful Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence) in her pod. Her video profile reveals she is a writer with a humorous personality."

The concept of the movie is genious. This movie reminds me of "Cast Away", "Gravity" and even "The Martian". Although this is definitely not emotionally deep, "Passengers" is a pretty good movie to watch with your family, or your significant other.
You might think that being trapped in space for so long will be horrible, and that life will be so boring, right?
Well, no. You have plenty of activities to do: movies, video games, computer dance-offs, a fully stocked bar, complete with an android bartender that totally reminds me of the bartender in "The Shining."
After a year, Jim (the main character) becomes desperate after realizing his life is ruined. He can't get back to sleep, he's all alone with an android and his messages to earth will only be received in more than 20 years. What would you do in this situation? Probably consider suicide in first hand.
A year passes and Jim finds Aurora: a young journalist, sleeping for a few years now.
Well, at this point, without knowing what happens next, you probably think that he will do the worst thing ever: awake her.
After this moment, the movie is not that bad. They fall in love, they live a beautiful moment and the chemistry between Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt is indeed, fantastic.
What Jim did was an act of desperation and selfishness. But keep in mind that this movie is not a romantic-comedy. It's complex because it deals with a big dilemma: egoism in the human race.
Jim pays (in a way) for what he did, but in my heart I am a little bit divided because I don't know what to think about the turn of events this movie had in the end.
I'm not going to spoil the end for you, but even today I don't really know what to think about it.
But I liked the concept of the movie, and the actors where amazing, like always.
Movie Trailer:
Do I recommend it? Yes, I do.
It's not bad at all. Just give it a try and please tell me in the comments bellow if you agree with my review or not!
Have a great day and I'll see you on my next post!
XO,
Di.
